Rachel Goldstien
Has been making music since she can remember. She started piano lessons at age 5 and began learning to accompany herself singing. Combined with dance lessons and voice lessons, she learned to feel music and rhythm in her body as well as in her head. As a way to combine everything she loved to do, she began playing in the school band and performing in musicals at age 12. From 12-19 she performed in many musicals such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Mrs. Gloop), James and the Giant Peach (Sponge), The Drowsy Chaperone (Janet Van De Graaff), Shrek the Musical (Fiona), and Hairspray (Tracy Turnblad).
She also learned to play many different musical instruments during the completion of her senior project in 2019. She student-taught band classes grades 5-8 and learned to play all of the different instruments alongside her students. This same year, she acted as The Tri-M Music Honor Society President, Band Vice President, Choir President, Advanced Choir President, and Jazz Band President. In these roles, she had the opportunity to step in and practice running rehearsals at the high school level. She was also selected as an New Hampshire All-State Vocalist all 4 years of high school.
In college, Rachel performed in multiple Operas such as The Magic Flute (3rd Lady), and Cendrillion (Armelinda). And trained as a Mezzo in classical voice lessons all 4 years.
In 2023, Rachel received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine. Completing and performing her Senior Vocal Recital the same year. Since then, she has begun working as a PreK-5 general Music Teacher, and 5th Grade Band Director in the Saco/Biddeford School District.
Rachel has been doing what she loves her whole life, and she cannot wait to share that love for music with her students. She found a wonderful mentor in her childhood voice teacher, and credits so much of how she teaches to her. She hopes to be the same type of resource, mentor, and safe space for her students.
